Office Club Members & Suppliers descended upon Stratford-Upon-Avon last weekend for the annual conference, exhibition and Gala Dinner Awards evening.

The business side of the weekend kicked off with an inspirational keynote speech about the art of “negotiation” by International Keynote Speaker, Author, Radio and TV Personality, Derek Arden prior to the exhibition opening in conjunction with a series of intimate seminars and discussion forums to enable each member to share ideas and issues, as well as learning from others: “Networking, nothing beats getting together with other dealers and suppliers and having a chat” were the words used by Malclom Shawyer of The Complete Office.


Office Club Launch New Online Trading System

Mark-AllanFollowing the recent launch of a new online trading system for Members, Office Club used last weekend’s annual Conference to demonstrate the website further with seminars for Dealers interested in the system, and a user group discussion forum for those already up and running. The forums also provided Dealers with an opportunity to discuss the software with the developers, CommerceXchange.

After four months of trialing and testing Office Club has launched a new online trading system that is set to make selling online simple, effective and affordable.

Announcing the new “Club Store” Merchandising Manager Allison Fishlock explained: “Finding the perfect online trading site for the office supplies industry has been an ongoing challenge – To create something that is simple to use, effective and perhaps most importantly, affordable for all dealers. Using proven industry standard technology, we are extremely confident that we have come up with the solution. Not only will the site ‘talk’ to Spicers and Vow systems, keeping all data and prices current, the responsive templates mean that the look and functionality automatically adjusts for screen sizes and devices, making it Google Search friendly.”

A number of dealers have been involved in the trial period, including Kevin Tearle at Evolve Office Ltd in Colchester who perhaps best sums up the positive feedback: “The Club Store offers everything a dealer needs to have a great search engine friendly website plus it is so well put together our customers have a great experience too. Club Store has all the functionality we require without over-complicating things, and the price is great also!

Having a fully functioning system is only part of the solution, Office Club has dedicated time and support to ensure that dealers using the new Club Store are getting the full benefits by helping to get the sites found once they are out there on the huge worldwide web. As Joanne Atkins of Ultratype in Cornwall reveals: “The great thing about Club Store is that, as well as being cost-effective, easy to manage and good-looking, we know that the Office Club team are there to give us full support throughout. Office Club Launch Direct Mail Campaign Support

Dealer group Office Club has launched a new mailer campaign providing dealers with a raft of new niche marketing tools for targeting prospects and new business from existing customers.

Announcing the initiative Merchandising Manager Allison Fishlock explained: “Over the past 18-24 months there has been a heavy shift towards online marketing; an important development that we have fully supported dealers with through our online offerings, be it preparing e-shots, websites or full blown trading stores…but we have also identified that there has been a trend to overlook traditional methods that should form part of a multi-channel approach to deliver the optimum results.

Club Direct addresses this gap by giving Members a range of specific product sector mailers that they can choose to have A4 or A5 with a choice of codes, pricing and a full colour overprint to give a true sense of being their own. The mailers cover everything from archive storage and copier paper through kitchen, catering and cleaning, to machines, conference and presentation – Something for everyone.

“Thousands of emails are being deleted daily without being opened, and that is just the ones that make it through the spam filters – If a dealer is solely sending out emails then they are missing out on business. Club Direct marks the end of instant deletions as hard copy fights back…Using direct mail as part of a multi-channel approach, Office Club members are already seeing the results with reports of orders from dormant accounts, appointments made from previously unresponsive prospects and new product orders from existing customers.”

Club Direct mailers are available for dealers to order from the Members area of the Office Club website with all product information and pricing to assist with usage.

Dealers Demonstrate Sales Growth in Writing Instruments

On the back of recent news that Members had seen a 12% sales increase with Pilot Pens UK, Dealer Group Office Club has reported overall sales growth of 11% across the nine pen manufacturers it has built a relationship with for the benefit of Members.

Merchandising Manager for Office Club, Allison Fishlock, announced: “At Office Club we like to support our dealers with offers and promotions on a wide range of products, including new categories and technologies, but we never under-estimate the importance of core items; demonstrated by the fantastic result we saw from our pen suppliers that worked with us on promotions, marketing and competitive pricing – Enhanced by our strong BPGI relationship with key pen manufacturers ensuring our members are getting globally competitive cost prices.”

Karen Mather, National Account Manager added: “At Pentel we are delighted with the way our relationship with Office Club has blossomed during 2014, with direct sales growing by over 11.5% and overall sales by almost 10%. We firmly believe that this success is the result of a good working relationship, founded on excellent communication, and working together on promotional programmes in both the B2B and the B2C market to help Office Club dealers engage with our products.

It is a similar story with Newell Rubbermaid with Nichola Harris from the Consumer Division adding: “During 2014 Office Club and Newell Rubbermaid worked closely together on a number of marketing campaigns that saw a broad range of promotions within the retail market.   Good product communication and great promotions ensured that members were confident in selling the brands – The results of this are there for all to see with an growth of 21% for Office Club members in everyday writing”

Of the nine approved pen suppliers that Office Club have an agreement with, seven saw significant growth in 2014, including Stabilo. As UK Field Manager John Oakes explains: “Stabilo and Office Club have enjoyed a long established relationship, but 2014 proved to be particularly successful with direct sales up by over 30% – The result of a good working relationship and dealer engagement with products, in particular our colourful permanent in-store display options, merchandising materials and our promotions, including the unique Brand Builders promotions that have seen Office Club members engaging with our brand. “

Office Club & Pilot Pens Enjoy 2014 Sales Growth

Dealer Group Office Club and pen manufacturer Pilot Pens have once again jointly demonstrated the power of the brand with a third successive year of sales growth.

Merchandising Manager for Office Club, Allison Fishlock, announced: “We continue to work closely with all of our suppliers to ensure our Members get the best possible support for their business and in return they offer loyalty and support to our Suppliers. Pilot Pens are a leading example of how this relationship works with sales from Office Club dealers increasing by nearly 12% in 2014 compared to what was deemed a very successful 2013. (more…)

Office Club and Maped Helix Announce Sales Increase

Dealer Group Office Club has announced an 11% year on year sales increases on the popular Helix and Maped brands.

Office Club Appointment Focuses on B2B activity

Dealer Group Office Club has appointed Mark Allan into a Commercial Development role to offer Members further support on all their B2B activity, especially online.

Business Development Manager Keith Lacey announced: “We are delighted to be able to offer Dealers further specialist support when it comes to their B2B trading. Accent Stationers Back To School Success

Accent Stationers in Harwich, Essex, are enjoying a successful Back To School period following a recent mailing of a Back To School targeted mailer produced by dealer group Office Club.

Company Director, Roger Miles, explained: “We made the decision this year to go all out with a large push to increase our share of the Back To School market this summer. We ordered our personalized copies of the bright and eye-catching mailer from Office Club and organized a local drop with the Royal Mail. Within a week of the mailing we started to notice the difference with our retail sales increasing 17% up on the same week the previous year with our customer count up 9% – A promising start and we still have plenty of selling time before the kids are actually heading back to school.” (more…)
