Cool Earth Paper receives Stationery Company Warrant

Earlier this week your the Office Club exclusive Cool Earth copier paper was awarded with the prestigious Stationers Company Warrant. Introduced by Past Master Helen Esmonde in 2014, the warrant goes back to the company’s roots as a Livery Company in recognising and promoting excellent products and services.

Mike James, the Chairman of the Warrants Committee states that “this year the Stationers’ Company had a record number of applicants for the warrant and the judging was interesting. At times the discussions were quite heated, and it was great to see the passion of the judging committee. At the conclusion of the judging it was decided to award new warrants to 5 Products with a further 4 products having their warrants extended for another year.”

The Stationers’ Company is the City of London Livery Company for the Communications and Content industries. The Company’s mission is to be the most effective independent forum in the UK Communications and Content industries, actively contributing to the strategic development, success and education of these industries. The majority of its members work in or supply the paper, print, publishing, packaging, office products, newspaper, broadcasting and online media industries.

We are delighted to welcome the hugely popular Paul Le Serve to the business development team further strengthening the expertise and support available to members to drive sales growth and profitability. Paul Le Serve joins us from Antalis, the UK’s leading paper, packaging and visual communications business where he was Regional Sales Manager for the South – Earning the company the Office Club ‘Supplier of the Year’ award at this year’s conference.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO, Toby Robins, beamed, “Paul brings with him a vast amount of experience and expertise, his addition to the team will see us fulfil our objective of building even stronger relationships between our members and approved suppliers as we develop a strategy that ensures that all stakeholders feel engaged in the business; benefitting from enhanced communications through relevant touch points and collaboration with suppliers, fellow dealers and the highly skilled Office Club team.”

When anthropologist Dilwyn Jenkins contacted Cool Earth ten years ago with the news that the Asháninka community were on the brink of selling their rainforest, Cool Earth leapt at the opportunity to assist in whatever way they could.

Cool_earth_10Like Cool Earth, Dilwyn believed in people. Who better to guard the rainforest than those who depend on it for their existence? This was how the Cool Earth model was born. People first.

This year Cool Earth turns ten. What a decade it’s been. Since its inception, Cool Earth has partnered with communities in Northern Peru, Papua New Guinea and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. And, with the overwhelming support from donors, such as Office Club, Cool Earth are now protecting more rainforest with communities than any government or NGO.

Cool Earth have learnt a lot in the last ten years, but one thing has been certain; indigenous people are the key to halting rainforest destruction. By empowering communities, forest loss in our partner villages is 27% less than surrounding areas. Proof again that backing people is the most effective way of saving the rainforest.

Now, Cool Earth are introducing the Toolbox, a refined, versatile model built on ten years of R&D to revolutionise rainforest protection and scale the impact across the world. With the backing of pioneering thinkers like the supporters, Cool Earth’s Toolbox will be the most effective model for empowering indigenous communities to take control of their forest and remain its custodians long after Cool Earth’s departure. So, here’s to another ten years of rainforest saving partnerships.

Office Club Roadshows 2016

Office Club is going out on the road this autumn, hosting a series of networking events for members up and down the country during September and October.

2017 Conference Dates Confirmed

Office Club has announced details for its 25th anniversary conference that will take place in Stratford-Upon-Avon on the weekend of 16-18th June 2017.

Upon confirming details, CEO Toby Robins added “We are keen for our stakeholders to put the date in their diaries for next year’s event; at Office Club we listen to our members and suppliers so, following all the positive feedback we continue to receive, we will be returning to Stratford-Upon-Avon for the third time for what happens to be our 25th anniversary. Office Club appoints Toby Robins as Chief Executive

Office Club is pleased to announce today the appointment of Toby Robins as Chief Executive. The vacancy was created by the untimely death of Office Club’s founder, Mark Austen.

Kim Austen commented “In Toby, we have found someone who shares Mark’s commitment to the independent channel and who has the skills and experience to build on Mark’s legacy.”

Office Club Conference 2015

Office Club Members & Suppliers descended upon Stratford-Upon-Avon last weekend for the annual conference, exhibition and Gala Dinner Awards evening.

The business side of the weekend kicked off with an inspirational keynote speech about the art of “negotiation” by International Keynote Speaker, Author, Radio and TV Personality, Derek Arden prior to the exhibition opening in conjunction with a series of intimate seminars and discussion forums to enable each member to share ideas and issues, as well as learning from others: “Networking, nothing beats getting together with other dealers and suppliers and having a chat” were the words used by Malclom Shawyer of The Complete Office.

Office Club Launch New Online Trading System

Mark-AllanFollowing the recent launch of a new online trading system for Members, Office Club used last weekend’s annual Conference to demonstrate the website further with seminars for Dealers interested in the system, and a user group discussion forum for those already up and running. The forums also provided Dealers with an opportunity to discuss the software with the developers, CommerceXchange.
